A delegation of the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD) is undertaking an official visit to Kent State University in the United States from August 17 to 27, 2026. The visit is aimed at further strengthening the partnership between the two universities and expanding opportunities for academic cooperation, institutional development and internationalization.
The programme provides the IUHD delegation with an opportunity to study the experience of the U.S. higher education system and exchange views with Kent State University specialists on a wide range of issues, including dual-degree programmes, internationalization of curricula, quality assurance, accreditation, academic programme development and innovative teaching and learning methods.
Particular attention is being given to institutional quality assurance and accreditation. Through specialized workshops and practical discussions, IUHD representatives are examining approaches related to HLC, ABET and AACSB standards, assessment procedures, learning outcomes, curriculum alignment and faculty development. The participants are also working on a practical roadmap for strengthening quality assurance procedures and developing new academic programmes at IUHD.
An important part of the programme focuses on international admissions and student support. Discussions with Kent State University specialists cover international and graduate admissions, MBA programme development and services supporting international students. The delegation also visited the university library and learned about research and academic resources, including OhioLINK and ILLiad, as well as writing, tutoring and other student support services.
The IUHD delegation also held meetings with the leadership of the College of Honors and Global Education and Partnership Team and visited various university facilities, including student housing, the DI Hub, Student Center and other campus facilities. These activities provided valuable insight into the organization of the academic and student environment at a major U.S. university.
The programme also included a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, as well as cultural and social activities that contributed to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship.
The visit is taking place within the broader framework of the dynamic development of international cooperation in Turkmenistan. Under the far-sighted leadership of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan, Arkadagly Hero Serdar Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, young people, higher education institutions and academic communities of the country are provided with expanding opportunities to establish international partnerships, participate in educational programmes and gain experience from leading institutions around the world.
In this context, the cooperation between IUHD and Kent State University represents a valuable example of the international opportunities available to Turkmen higher education institutions. Such partnerships contribute to the introduction of advanced international practices, improvement of educational quality, development of academic programmes and expansion of opportunities for students and faculty.
The visit to Kent State University is therefore an important step in the continued development of IUHD’s international cooperation. The knowledge, experience and professional contacts gained during the programme will contribute to the university’s institutional development and support the further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between IUHD and its international partners.
