4th Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students started at IUHD

The Fourth Open Mathematical Olympiad for University Students (OMOUS — 2024) commenced on March 4, 2024, at the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD) in Ashgabat. This international event, which is being held in person for the second time, has drawn the participation of foreign students to our country, marking a significant milestone in academic collaboration.

Students hailing from seven countries, namely Bulgaria, China, Indonesia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Uzbekistan, have converged in Ashgabat to take part in this intellectually stimulating event. With more than 110 students representing over 25 higher education institutions from the aforementioned nations, alongside approximately 400 local students, the OMOUS-2024 promises to be a vibrant platform for the exchange of mathematical prowess and cultural understanding.

The overarching mission of OMOUS-2024 is to foster friendly relations within the global academic community. By facilitating interactions between students and instructors from diverse higher educational institutions, IUHD aims to cultivate an environment where the exchange of scientific and practical knowledge serves as a catalyst for mutual growth and comprehension.

During the Olympiad, participants are tasked with solving a series of mathematical problems within a stipulated timeframe of 5 hours. Esteemed professors and educators from the participating countries serve as jury members. The results of the Olympiad will be determined by the cumulative points garnered from both individual and team competitions.

To acknowledge the exceptional contributions of the participants, winners will be bestowed with prestigious gold, silver, and bronze medals, alongside 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level diplomas respectively. Additionally, a special prize awaits a student who demonstrates a unique approach to solving a specific problem, further incentivizing innovative thinking among the contestants.

The program of the International Olympiad, scheduled to conclude on March 8, encompasses a diverse array of events. In addition to the rigorous competition, organizers have arranged tours for foreign guests to explore the enchanting sights of Ashgabat, including museums, shopping centers, recreational spots, and the historic Nusay (Nisa) memorial complex.
