Winners of the Moot Court Competition – 2022

In order to combine the theory received by students in higher educational institutions with practice, to improve the life skills and legal disciplines they need in their future profession, to contribute to the development of legal ideology, education and culture in our country, the "Hukukchy" Economic Society held an educational and practical competition among students of legal directions. The competition was held in the form of an analysis of a disputable case from practice, based on the legislation of Turkmenistan, a moot court was organized on it.

The competition was attended by students of higher educational institutions studying in legal specialties, namely the Magtymguly Turkmen State University, International University for the Humanities and Development, and Institute of International Relations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. 31 teams participated in this competition, 2 students in each team.

The questions of the competition were drawn up on the basis of cases encountered in law enforcement and judicial practice. Through model disputable cases, it is envisaged to develop students' skills in analysis, argumentation, written and oral presentation of arguments, based on the legislation of Turkmenistan.

Experienced lawyers, judges were invited to judge the competition. The competition consisted of three stages. At the first stage, students analyzed a separate episode of the model dispute, which checked their ability to write a general review. Based on the results of this stage, participants of the 2nd stage were selected, where students competed in the ability to work with documentation and appear in court. The teams from IUHD demonstrated the good results at the all stages of this contest. The two strongest teams at the end of this stage got the right to contend in the final stage.

At the final stage the teams of Institute of International Relations of MFA of Turkmenistan and International University for the Humanities and Development competed with each other at the moot court. Based on the results of the Moot Court Competition 2022, the IUHD “MOB 1344” team was recognized as the winner team of this competition. The students of International Law department, International Private Law 2 students, Merdan Chariyev and Mahriban Aydogdyyeva won the Grand-Prix of this competition, and the prize of 5 000 TMT and certificates. Mahriban Aydogdyyeva was additionally recognized as the best orator of this contest, and won 1 000 TMT in this nomination.

This result of our students is the bright example of the hard work of Vekil Vekilov, the Head of International Law Department who prepared them to this contest. Other participants of the Moot Court 2022 competition also were awarded with certificates of participation and memorable presents. We wish our law students best results in the future achievements, and success in their studies.
