INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Cooperation

Since its establishment in 2014, the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD) has consistently pursued an active policy of international cooperation as a core element of its academic mission. As the first higher education institution in Turkmenistan with English as the primary language of instruction, IUHD has positioned itself as an open platform for global academic dialogue and partnership.

IUHD has concluded cooperation agreements and developed working partnerships with leading universities and academic institutions across Europe, Asia, and North America. These partnerships support joint academic activities, student and faculty mobility, collaborative research, and the organization of international conferences and academic events.

Among IUHD’s international partner institutions are:

  • Wright State University and Kent State University (USA)
  • Sungkyunkwan University and Hanyang University (Republic of Korea)
  • Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (Japan)
  • Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (Pakistan)
  • Management and Science University and Universiti Malaya (Malaysia)
  • 1 Decembrie 1918 University of Alba Iulia, University of Pitesti, and Vasile Goldis Western University of Arad (Romania)
  • ADA University (Azerbaijan)
  • Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan)
  • Astrakhan State University (Russian Federation)
  • IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences (Austria)
  • Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (Italy)
  • Language Education and Cooperation Center (China)
  • University of Westminster (United Kingdom)

International cooperation has enabled IUHD to implement concrete academic mobility initiatives. In particular, ten IUHD students participated in an exchange program with the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, while one student from Japan studied at IUHD. In addition, two IUHD students completed exchange studies at Hanyang University in the Republic of Korea.

IUHD also regularly hosts visiting professors and lecturers from partner institutions, contributing to the internationalization of curricula and providing students with diverse academic perspectives.

The university’s international engagement is further reflected in high-level visits by prominent international figures, including Ban Ki-moon, Amina Mohammed, Lamberto Zannier, and Urban Rusnák. These visits underline IUHD’s role as a recognized venue for international dialogue and academic exchange.

Through sustained international cooperation, IUHD continues to strengthen its global academic network, enhance the quality of education and research, and contribute to the integration of Turkmenistan’s higher education system into the international academic community.
