History of University

About

The International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD) was established on May 16, 2014, by a Decree of the President of Turkmenistan. The institution was founded with a clear and ambitious mandate: to serve as a beacon of modern higher education and to foster the integration of Turkmenistan’s academic community into the global landscape.

From its very first day, IUHD was designed to be a pioneer in the region. It became the first university in the country to adopt English as the primary language of instruction across all faculties and to fully implement the Bologna Process. By aligning with international credit-based systems, IUHD ensured that its students received an education that is both globally recognized and locally impactful.

Since welcoming its inaugural cohort in September 2014, the university has consistently expanded its horizons. What began as a bold initiative to modernize the humanities has evolved into a comprehensive academic ecosystem.

The university has moved beyond traditional classroom learning, prioritizing a research-driven approach and the development of critical thinking skills. This evolution has seen the establishment of diverse faculties ranging from International Law and Diplomacy to Information Technology and Management, all operating under the highest standards of international pedagogy.

Over the past decade, IUHD has distinguished itself through the remarkable successes of its students and faculty. Our scholars have become regular participants and winners in prestigious international academic Olympiads, particularly in fields such as Mathematics, Information Technology, and Social Sciences.

These achievements underscore the university's commitment to producing graduates who are not only specialists in their fields but are also prepared to compete and lead on the world stage. Today, IUHD serves as a vital hub for international conferences and cross-cultural exchange, maintaining strong partnerships with leading academic institutions worldwide.

As the International University for the Humanities and Development continues to grow, it remains dedicated to its founding principles of academic integrity, innovation, and global citizenship. We take pride in our role as a bridge between Turkmenistan and the international community, empowering the next generation of leaders to shape a prosperous future.
