Essay Competition Results "Robots and International Humanitarian Law"

The International Committee of the Red Cross has held an Essay Competition on the topic “Robots and IHL” in Azeri, Armenian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Russian, Tajik, Turkmen, Uzbek and Ukrainian languages for all researchers of international humanitarian law (IHL). More than 100 researchers from all over the world took part in the essay competition. Each language section was assessed separately, in many sections nominations were allocated in accordance with different categories of participants. Despite different academic backgrounds in the field of international humanitarian law (IHL), the participants demonstrated a high level of research. Lawyers, teachers, university professors, journalists, schoolchildren, students and many others highlighted the problems of regulating the use of robots during an armed conflict, and also analyzed the ethical aspects of the use of autonomous weapons. The competition was attended by law students from IUHD, who took three places. Section in Turkmen language: Best Student Work 1st place - Annageldiyeva Shemshat, student of International Private law, 3. 2nd place - Orazberdiyeva Altyn, student of International Private law, 3. 3rd place - Nurberdiyev Novruz, student of International Public law, 2. In the nomination for the best work among specialists: 1st place - Ballieva Durli, lecturer at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Winners were awarded with prizes and memorable presents from ICRC regional office for Central Asia
