Abdyleziz Saryyev, a 3rd-year student of International Relations and World Politics major at International University for the Humanities and Development, has been awarded the "Best Idea and Approach" nomination at the Third International Model UNESCO event. The event, focused on the "Ethics of the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Education," was held from August 12-14, 2024, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and brought together participants from 52 countries.
The event was organized by the World Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO in collaboration with the National Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan on UNESCO Affairs, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), and the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs of Kazakhstan. It featured a training seminar where international experts guided the participating delegations. This year marked the first time that Turkmenistan was represented at the Model UNESCO event, adding a new dimension to the country’s growing involvement in global educational initiatives.
During the seminar, delegations were divided into regional groups to exchanged ideas on the theme of "Artificial Intelligence." This initiative aimed to provide students with insights into UNESCO’s work and its key priorities, particularly in addressing the ethical implications of AI in education.
The opening ceremony of the Third International Model UNESCO took place on August 13, 2024, at the United Nations Office in Almaty. The first session saw the participating delegations present their countries' efforts in the field of artificial intelligence. In the second session, delegations proposed initiatives that could be implemented on a global or regional scale, followed by a secret ballot to approve the resolutions.
Among the adopted resolutions were those from Turkmenistan, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Hong Kong. Following the voting, the judges announced the winners, and an award ceremony was held. Abdyleziz Saryyev's innovative ideas and approach earned him the prestigious "Best Idea and Approach" nomination. Additionally, the representative from Egypt was recognized as the "Best Speaker," and the representative from Malaysia received the "Best Presentation" award.
This victory marks a significant achievement for Turkmenistan, highlighting the country’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and nurturing its youth. Turkmenistan, a full-fledged member of UNESCO since August 17, 1993, has actively participated in UNESCO initiatives, registering a number of historical and cultural monuments on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The participation of Turkmen youth in such international events is seen as a key element in the successful implementation of the Strategy of International Cooperation of the Youth of Turkmenistan for 2023-2030, under the leadership of Arkadagly Hero Serdar.
The IUHD community sincerely congratulates Abdyleziz Saryyev on his outstanding achievement and extends their best wishes for his continued success in his academic and social endeavors.
